Within the EU markets,
financial services companies are required to adhere to the Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment
Products (PRIIPs) regulation which has applied since 1 January 2018.
The aim of this legislation is to
encourage efficient EU markets by helping investors to better understand and compare the key features, risk,
rewards and costs of different PRIIPs, through access to a short and consumer-friendly Key Information Document
(KID). The Regulation applies to persons who manufacture PRIIPs or advise on or sell PRIIPs which would apply
to all advice rendered by St James Global. All advice to a retail investor on a PRIIP must provide the retail
investor with a KID in good time before any transaction is concluded.
St James Global are remunerated
by the institution or product provider. We ensure complete transparency of fees received and charges levied at
all levels. These fees and charges are clearly illustrated in the KID mentioned above. At St James Global, we
are happy to negotiate fees with a particular focus on enhancing the value of our advice fees based on the
increasing value of one’s investments – there is therefore, a vested interest to make sure we make your money
grow.
Each KID will need to contain the following information, presented in a pre-determined sequence of
sections. The sections are:
• What is this product?
• What are the risks and what could I get in
return?
• What happens if the PRIIP manufacturer is unable to pay out?
• What are the costs?
• How long
should I hold it and can I take money out early?
• How can I complain?
• Other relevant information
